الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي أَحْيَانَا بَعْدَ مَا أَمَاتَنَا وَإِلَيْهِ النُّشُورُ

بِاسْمِكَ اللّهُمَّ أَمُوتُ وَأَحْيَا

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ، تَوَكَّلْتُ عَلَى اللَّهِ، وَلا حَوْلَ وَلا قُوَّةَ إِلاَّ بِاللَّهِ

After eating

الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي أَطْعَمَنِي هَذَا وَرَزَقَنِيهِ مِنْ غَيْرِ حَوْلٍ مِنِّي وَلا قُوَّةٍ

اللّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنَ الْخُبُثِ وَالْخَبَائِثِ

سُبْحَانَ الَّذِي سَخَّرَ لَنَا هَذَا وَمَا كُنَّا لَهُ مُقْرِنِينَ، وَإِنَّا إِلَى رَبِّنَا لَمُنْقَلِبُونَ. اللّهُمَّ إِنَّا نَسْأَلُكَ فِي سَفَرِنَا هَذَا الْبِرَّ وَالتَّقْوَى، وَمِنَ الْعَمَلِ مَا تَرْضَى

The supplication of Istikharah

اللّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْتَخِيرُكَ بِعِلْمِكَ، وَأَسْتَقْدِرُكَ بِقُدْرَتِكَ، وَأَسْأَلُكَ مِنْ فَضْلِكَ الْعَظِيمِ، فَإِنَّكَ تَقْدِرُ وَلا أَقْدِرُ، وَتَعْلَمُ وَلا أَعْلَمُ، وَأَنْتَ عَلاَّمُ الْغُيُوبِ، اللّهُمَّ إِنْ كُنْتَ تَعْلَمُ أَنَّ هَذَا الْأَمْرَ خَيْرٌ لِي فِي دِينِي وَمَعَاشِي وَعَاقِبَةِ أَمْرِي فَاقْدُرْهُ لِي وَيَسِّرْهُ لِي ثُمَّ بَارِكْ لِي فِيهِ

What are the daily supplications?

They are established remembrances that accompany the believer through the day: on waking, sleeping, eating, leaving home, entering the mosque, travelling, istikharah, and after ablution.

How is the istikharah prayer and duʿaʾ performed?

One prays two units (rakʿahs) other than the obligatory prayer, then recites the istikharah duʿaʾ: “Allāhumma innī astakhīruka bi-ʿilmik…”, naming the matter at its place when intending a permissible decision.
